Feeling tired?

Do you get tired in the evenings?  I keep noticing that I am tired  - on days I work and days I'm home and days DH is home with me.  I didn't used to feel tired each evening.  I get about 8 hours of sleep a night and my days aren't that hard.  Just curious if this is just part of getting older and living life or if I need to investigate more into why I am tired.  I usually shake it by dinner time and get a second wind...experiences?

Re: Feeling tired?

  • I have been noticing it a lot lately- but I have a good bit more on my plate (with some new business dealings etc) -- I have noticed that little tweaks in my diet REALLY help with the energy (for me)

  • Thanks, Stacy - yeah, I have nothing - I mean no outside forces - that would reasonably be making me tired.  Life is simple and restful.  I have started changing my eating and exercising habits as an attempt to see if that is where I need help.

lol - well, what I MEAN is that it isn't lack of sleep, being worked too hard during the day, etc....but maybe it is biological, medical, or physiological, smarty pants.

  • Sorry, you left yourself wide open for that one!

  • I have noticed that I'm more tired lately, not just in the evenings though.  And by lately, I mean the last 1-2 years.  I talked to my doctor about it and after talking it through (I have a family history of depression) and running some bloodwork, we have determined that I'm a mom of 3 kids.  Lol.  I'm in good physical shape, I eat fairly well, and I'm not depressed.  It's a combo of running a house, helping DH with our business, playing referee, and just basically being the mothership of everyone in this house.  I didn't realize it at first but a lot goes "through" me.  So even if I'm not physically exhausted I'll be mentally exhausted...and when my brain wants a break so does everything else!  I do attribute it to being older as well:(

  • Before kids when this happened to me they found out I had an underactive thyroid.  A little synthroid and all was well until I had DS and I'm back to being tired again :) and my thyroid levels are in check.

  • It could be what you're eating for lunch.  Some things leave me more sluggish in the afternoon- like carbs, etc.  Maybe eating an apple around 3 or something refreshing might make you feel better and give you more energy going into the evening.

  • Lately I've been supper sluggish. By mid afternoon I am done for. I have a 2 y/o and she's tiring but this is new. When I look at it it does coincide with me gettin lack with my exercise and eating way too much junk. When I get a descent breakfast and don't snack on kids snacks all day I do a lot better.

This for me too.  Go have your thyroid checked!
