Re: Too crazy

  • That is quite the name--I had to look it up and give myself a quick history refresher. Do you like the name because of the way it sounds, the meaning behind it/the king, or because it's obscure and Ancient Germanic? In any case, I actually find myself liking it--just don't make a sibset with Charlemagne, m'kay?
  • I'm not sure how you pronounce it.  Ah-lair-ick?  If you like it, use it.

  • Don't like it at all.  What about using Joel Olin without the Alaric?  I like that a lot better.

  • If you're not married the baby gets to have YOUR last name. Other than that I like it.

  • I feel like I should think it's too crazy, but I really like it.
  • Oh, I really like it :) It's a unique name without it seeming like your trying really hard to make it unique, and I think it sounds great with the last name. It's a name few other people will have, but it doesn't sound crazy or weird like a lot of names people are choosing these days. As someone with a ridiculously common name, I really see the benefits of uncommon names!!

When we had DS, DH and I were not married. We still gave DS DH's last name. I actually like the FN choice. MN choice is okay.

  • Hi fellow April 2012 Mom!

I like Joel, but Alaric is not my favorite. Where did you hear it?

  • It sounds a little too fantasy-novel to me.  Could you substitute it with Eric?

No i heard it before when reading something, about 4 years ago and sort of liked it but then when i kept hearing it from the vampire diaries i did think it could be mainstream lol

  • I absolutely love Alaric. I used to have a little boy with that name in a class. He was sweet and very fun.

  • I love Alaric. It would be my top name if MH would go for it. I love the meaning behind it. Its a very strong name.

  • I think Alaric Olin is too hard to say and am not a huge fan of the L in each of the 3 names. Also, I hear 'colon' a little when I say them together. If you're going to go with an uncommon name [which I totally understand], I'd go with something a little easier for people to pronounce upon seeing it.

Sorry, I just assumed you got it from King Alaric who sacked Rome.
