Cloth Diapering

New to Cloth!

Hello everyone!

I have recently discovered the world of cloth diapering after talking to some other moms and doing a lot of research :) Thank you so much for your reviews spreadsheet, it has been very very helpful!

I think I have decided to get Kawaii pocket diapers. I have ordered one of those and a Flip diaper cover to see which one I like most, but the price and reviews of the Kawaii have won me over. I was planning on getting 18 diapers all from Kawaii but a variety of types including their overnight diapers. Does this sound like a good plan?

Money is tight so I am trying to find the easiest and cheapest and of course best system! Any suggestions for someone who is new to this would be great!

Thank you for your help!

  • First, check out the FAQs (you can find the link at the top of the board) if you haven't already.

I always highly discourage buying all of one kind diaper before trying them out, since regardless of prices and reviews; you'll never know if they work for YOUR baby until you use some. But Kawaii's are quite inexpensive, so it's definitely not the worst decision you could make.

If you want to go the cheapest route possible, prefolds and covers are always a winner!

  • Kawaii's run big (for us anyway).  My daughter is 3 months and they are still big for her and her BG4.0 fit fine.

  • Thank you for you all's help! I have ordered 1 so I can try it out first. I am so excited about trying it out!

  • Maybe you could buy a couple of used diapers first to see what you like. They're really cheap (sometimes $4 each) if you buy them on diaperswappers.com or craigslist. When I started, I was uncomfortable with trying used diapers because I thought it might be unsanitary (after all, we'd never buy used panties for ourselves). But the used diapers I eventually bought looked and smelled super clean and they work just fine for my daughter.
