Quik question on Fleece liner for Diaper rash cream

We haven't had even any redness yet but I want to be prepared, I went and bought some fleece at walmart and washed it once do you just cut it in strips for the diaper if cream needs to be used and do I need to wash it more or is that good.  Any other suggestions of the best way to deal with diaper rash I am all ears.  I want to be proactive if it havppens.

We use fleece liners in most of our diapers as a stay dry barrier and to protect our diapers from staining.  I think washing once is fine.  We just cut them into strips and lay them inside.
