Borderline panic attack brewing here.....dh and I were discussing the bed.
I am afraid of switching and having to switch back. Did this happen to anyone? I also don't know what to switch to. His crib converts, but it isn't a climbing out issue as it is a space issue. He is getting too big for the crib and sleeping bad the last week or so. I feel like turning the crib into a toddler bed is pointless since it will be the same amount of room.
He has a full size pillow and it take up a lot of room, but he won't let me take it out now that he has it. He uses it 80% of the night.
Did your LO still turn in a big bed, sleeping upside down or sideways? This is where the other 20% comes in! haha
Did you daytime PT while still in the crib, or did you switch to the bed before pt'ing.
Ugh....I am so confused! I hate to confuse him too......covert crib, mattress on floor....make crib into full size bed. I also don't know how long you give it if it doesn't work and put the crib back up!
Help!
Re: tell me about big kid beds and Pt'ing
We won't do a toddler bed either, for the same reasons you mentioned - it isn't any bigger and they will be in it such a short time before they will need to move up to a regular bed. Plus for our crib, we would have to buy the conversion rails and I think they were like $100 each, so that is a big deterrent too.

We have been talking about switching him out of the crib too... but he sleeps sooo good, I hate to ruin a good thing! He has plenty of room in his crib though... and he's a big boy! But he sleeps in one position (head on his pillow, not sideways or backwards anymore)
Our plan is to have Santa bring him new sheets and bedding for his big boy bed. His crib converts to a toddler bed... but I'm not sure if we'll convert it or get a twin bed. His room is small, and a double bed would take up the whole room practically.
Then I figure we will tackle potty training after the big boy transition is successful!
So IDK about PTing, but Jules was having the same kind of problems with space in the crib. She moves around so much, she constantly woke herself up. So then she was in bed with us but kicking and waking everyone up. We have a twin sized bed in her room so I tried that with the rail up, still too small and she got herself off of it. A few weeks ago, I decided I would try our spare full sized mattress on the floor of our room (so I can keep am eye on her). She has the rail on one side and pillows around another side, and our bed next to her. She's still waking up but not as bad as before, because she's not constantly hitting the crib. I keep saying she's going to be in that bed from 1-18.
Well.....toddler rail is on and he went right to sleep! Nap is never the issue, so we will see how the night goes! It is a very short rail...not sure how that will keep him in!
If all goes well we will get him a big bed soon!
