Best way to Thank Office for Work Baby Shower?

My co-workers threw me a baby shower today and they all chipped in and bought me some really nice gifts.

What's the best way to thank them all?   I was thinking sending a Thank you Email but is that too inpersonal?  Should I do individual thank you cards?  There's about 25 people.  Or one thank you card and post it in the kitchen?

And I'd also like to get something special for the 3 girls that organized it all and did all the shopping/decorating.  Do you think flowers would be a good idea?

Thanks!!!

  • I think flowers and/or a gift card would be nice for the main hosts.  As for the big group gift I would bake or buy something edible and leave it in the break room with a card.

  • I agree with the PP, something edible. Maybe order pizza or get a couple party subs from subway...but a cake with a card for sure! Then something nice for the hosts'. That would be great!
  • I sent a thank you email in addition to putting cookies in the break room with a note.  For the hosts, flowers would be nice or even just a hand written note.

  • I think normally you should do individual cards, but that might be strange since everyone chipped in on the same gifts.  I agree with PP to leave some snacks with it and just be sure to write a detailed note.  I also would probably get the hostesses gift cards, for coffee or something similar they would use, it would be more useful than flowers.
  • I agree with the PPs. For my work shower thank you, I brought a bunch of bagels and a nice card for the lounge. They were devoured and greatly appreciated. :)

  • Box of donuts or something like that with a big thank you card, and individual cards for the hosts.

  • They should all get individual, hand written thank you notes.  They all spent money on you, it doesn't matter that it was a group gift.  It is impolite to do anything else.

  • I am writing individual thank you notes, even for those who went in on the group gift.

  • individual thank you cards are appreciated. That is what i did for my work shower.
  • I wrote individual thank you notes.  It took forever, but I wanted to show everyone how much I truly appreciated their generosity.  Do NOT send a mass email.  And I think people actually appreciated the Thank You notes because a few people stuck them up on the cube walls, which I thought was kind of cute.

  • I did thank you cards for my coworkers who got me a gift with DS.  I've gotten a mass email from a coworker and wasn't at all offended (it was sent after she had her baby early), because it is easy to understand the craziness of the last weeks of pregnancy & early weeks of life with a newborn!

The flowers for the host sound really nice too!

  • I agree with pp about giving food like bagels, cookies, donuts pizza ect. With one big card to say thanks. I know I would feel appreciated and it is always fun to get unexpected goodies at work! :)

  • When my co-workers threw me a shower, the "hostess" said in front of everyone, "one more gift---no thank you cards!" I was a teacher and it was the end of the year, so everyone knew I was busy.  I wrote a group thank you card and baked cookies for everyone. For the hostesses, you could do flowers or a potted flower/plant for the office. I think I also sent a nice email to the staff the next day to thank them immediately.

  • My work shower is in a couple weeks. I know the three who are hosting it, so I already bought them gifts and then depending on how gifts are handled (they usually take donations from everyone and have one big gift) I'll either find out who contributed and write individual thank you cards for contributing or individual cards thanking them for the gift they gave us.

  • This.

I bought a couple of boxes of donuts/donut holes in for breakfast and told the office it was a small token of my appreciation.  I had several male co-workers attend my shower and I'm sure they appreciated the donuts more than they would have appreciated a card :-/

  • I did individual thank you cards for my work shower.  Just say thank you for the gift and how much you appreciate it.  I don't know why them buying you a group gift means they get a group thank you.
  • Food! Everyone loves food. I brought in an Edible Arrangement for the ladies and they gobbled it up. Also got me out of having to write thank you cards :)
