3rd Trimester

early labor signs?

I'm actually writing one of these because the 3rd trimester board doesn't see enough. ;-)

So for the past three days I've had very loose bowels and not with any change of diet.

Today I started feeling really warm, like heat radiating through my hands and face and then I started getting cramping in my upper abdomen. So I had about 7 contractions that included lower back pain, they were about 1-2 minutes long (but I thought that was too long?) They ranged from like 6-12 minutes apart, nothing very consistent. So... I assumed just BH and I took a bath and then a nap and tried to wait it out. But I just can't shake this upper abdomen discomfort, I have felt very nauseous since the contractions started 3 hours ago. The contractions have stopped, I just still have the discomfort...

Anyway... just wondering if it sounds like BH or maybe the onset of labor? I have an appt at 8AM tomorrow morning so it's definitely one of those... I feel silly calling when I'll be there in 12 hours and I am not having consistent contractions.

Just looking for opinions or experience.

Thanks! :-)

Re: early labor signs?

  • Its probably not labor, but I would just keep monitoring it and see what the doc says in the morning.

This could have been my post, down to the OB appointment (except mine is at 9am) and my discomfort is in my lower abs not upper.

I'm still feeling movement, but its lower than normal as well...I've been debating whether I should call or just wait it out....and see doc in the am

  • Thanks, that's pretty much what I was thinking but then you know you start Googling stuff and then you get worried for no reason. :-)

Right... like since I don't have anything too consistent to report, I kinda feel like what's the point? Okay so I'll just have an excuse to stay on the couch the rest of the night!!

  • I was just in the OB today and they told me that if you have more than 4 contractions in an hour go in. Dont wait just go. I have already been in the hospital once for spotting and cramping so I am watching it closely. Its up to you but maybe you should call the hospital and ask to speak to an ob there and just simply ask them what they think? Feel better mama <3

  • Sounds like me at around 2 am yesterday. It sounds to me like false labor. I get that all the time and it is so super frustrating. For the last few days the nausea and discomfort have not gone away at all, but the contractions come and go. When I start having contractions I test to see if they are real by drinking about 30 ounces of water and then waiting an hour. If they go away then I know they are just BH.
