Classes vs Schedule

Hi Ladies

Our guys are 15 months old and I'd really like to get them involved in a class like Gymboree or Little Gym etc. The problem is I really can't find anything that fits perfectly into the schedule. They'll be late for a nap regardless. Typically when we go off schedule it means a difficult day. I want to get them involved in something, but I also want to stick to a schedule (two naps) somewhat. Has anyone found a way to balance this?

Re: Classes vs Schedule

  • My boys started taking 1 nap per day around 1 year (we actually transitioned them a little early for my convenience).  Could you transition them slowly (move the morning nap back by 10 minutes and the 2nd nap 10 minutes earlier every few days until they're on one nap?  Things are so much easier to get done when you only have to work around 1 nap.  The ONLY time my kids skip nap is at IL's (because they're so entertained they don't complain at all) or if we'll be out doing fun things for the entire day.
  • Don't most kids transition to one nap around 12 months + or -.  I would just wait until they are on one nap a day to start classes.

  • Gymboree is on Groupon today, seems like a good day to buy...looked like a good savings.

  • We did a Music Together/Music-in-me Class over the summer and they have early evening classes and we're also considering a swim class in the fall or winter that is in the early evening too.  They would both work into our schedule and our girls are usually in bed by 7-7:30.

I worked at Gymboree when I was in grad school and it is a lot of fun, but $$ and we don't have one close enough to work into our schedule either.
