How would you know ?

This may be a silly or stupid crazy  question but how do you know when your belly drops ? and is it a certain amount of time whitin the pregnancy  your belly will drop or it drops depending on the baby ?

I stayed high for both of my babies, but my mother carried the same way. I asked my doctor once and he told me that a lot of it depends on the way that your body is built and genetics, but I've read so much conflicting evidence online. No, it's not a stupid question, btw. I think the answer is just a complicated one, lol! Congrats, and good luck!

"They" say most first time mom's drop about 2-4 weeks before delivery. However, I'm almost 39 weeks and haven't dropped even a little bit. I agree with PP, I think it depends on your body and the pregnancy. My mom dropped with both me and my brother, so maybe not genetics as much? I'm not sure. Because I refuse to believe I'll be pregnant forever, and at the rate this is going... lol

You don't always know. I carried low this entire pregnancy and never felt her drop. I assume it was just a very gradual process.

Baby dropped Monday. I can tell b/c I'm breathing a lot easier, hungry for the first time in months and peeing all the time. My doc did an internal today and said "yep, her head is right there." DD#1 never dropped and I was induced at 37 weeks so I really have no previous experience. I'm not any further dilated or effaced than I was last week so I'm curious to see how long she'll sit low before labor comes along.

With my firstborn, I actually didn't notice that I had dropped until other people pointed it out to me. I think it was one of those things I didn't notice because I see myself every day, but because they hadn't seen me in a week or more, they saw the difference.

My stomach looks a little lower these days. EVen DH pointed it out. I don't know other than that. I don't really feel any different.
