Hi! I was just wondering if I'll be getting another ultrasound as my due date approaches? I meant to ask the dr yesterday, but I forgot (baby brain)! Thanks for the help!
20 weeks was my last one with DS#1. I had one with DS#2 at my last appt. last week, but that was on the office machine, which is really not clear and it was only b/c they were concerned about his position.
It just depends on your doctor's policies and how your pregnancy goes....my doc does not do them after the 18 week one unless there is a problem. GL!
Same. Where I live, there are no u/s after the anatomy scan unless there is an issue (measuring way off for dates, question of how baby is positioned etc)
I agree that it depends on your doctor's policies.. I was actually spoiled with ultrasounds because when I first got pregnant I was living in MA.. and when I moved to FL they wanted to do their own ultrasounds :-) I didn't mind LOL ... and at my next appt.at 30/31 weeks, my doctor said I will have one more to check the size of the baby.. after that probably no more :-( But in total I think I will have had about 5 or 6!
We're seeing a midwife practice, so this answer may be different for your situation.
After our a/s, we only get another one to check and see if baby's head-down at 36-37 weeks if the midwives can't tell with certainty by feeling the baby's positioning manually. We may be having one at my 36/2 appointment next week b/c baby's been transverse for months, but we're still playing it by ear.
That's a question for your dr's office staff. As you see from responses, different offices have different standards. In some practices, it's standard to do one near term. If there are concerns about the LO growth, they may choose to do additional u/s along the way. Also some people opt for elective 3D/4D u/s around 30 weeks of age for mementos that cost out of pocket and are often times done at outside facilities.
I have been having them often...now every 2 weeks to check for growth and fluid levels. My fluid levels have been borderline since week 27 ultrasound. The growth check is because I am on BP meds. Also, I am 39, so my doc is just watching me very closely. I am not having nonstress tests 2 times a week. There will probably be at least 2 more ultrasounds. My baby is measuring a week ahead, so I am really not worried.
