pump question

With L when I would pump i felt like I had to really press the thing hard up to my girls to get good suction.  Does that make sense?  so i'm wondering, would i need a bigger end or smaller?  And what are they called anyways?  All i can think of is "funnel"  but that can't be right.  TIA!

Re: pump question

  • Ha! They are called flanges - but I must confess I have used one as a funnel in my kitchen! I don't know what size you would need, but I found the larges work much better fir me than the mediums or smalls. When the time comes if you want to try the smalls, let me know - you can have mine Ps - try the sportsbra trick - get an old sportsbra, cut hold for you nipples, and use that to pump - it gives me great support and keeps the flanges on nice and tight!
  • I've heard it's very rare that anyone needs bigger flanges but not impossible.  You could always make an appt. with a LC and pump in front of her.  She might be able to tell you if you need a different size.

And I definitely need to try the sports bra trick this time around!

  • Flange!  that's it!  All i have is the ones that came with the pump but i'm going to order new tubing, so I'll probably just get a couple of different sizes.  Thanks for the tips girls!!

  • Is your current breast shield hard plastic?  I made sure I bought the "soft fit" ones, they worked much better and were more comfortable.
