3rd Trimester

Any BTDT moms deal with Gestational Hypertension?

How did it affect when you delivered? My doc is pretty sure I have GH as my blood pressure has been elevated and I've been getting severe dizziness with seeing stars, but no protein in my urine. I asked about induction, but I got a kind of a run around answer. Any BTDT moms have GH and were induced early? Or were you allowed to go the full 40 weeks?

  • I'm not sure what BTDT is, but I had high blood pressure with my last pregnancy with no protein.

My Dr. scheduled me for an induction at 38 weeks, but my water broke the night before.

I had to lie down for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon to get my blood pressure down every day (which was tons of fun at work), but when it got to the point at which my BP was not coming back down even after lying on my side she decided to induce.

  • I had it with my first pregnancy. It was only high bp, never any protien in the urine. I was put on Aldomet (a pregnancy safe bp medication) and it kept my bp under control until I delivered. I stopped taking the meds the day DD was born. No high bp yet with this pregnancy but if it were to get high again I will definitely be asking for the Aldomet again. I'm not comfortable being induced early unless all other options have been exhausted and nothing else will work. Good luck to you.

It just dawned on me what BTDT means.  I suck at shorthand and text language.

  • According to the ditz doctor I saw the other day at L&D, you can't have hypertension in pregnancy without Pre-E or having it before pregnancy. Yeah right, whatever.

I'm actually getting ready to bring this up with my high risk doctor because the headaches, dizziness and seeing stars is getting old fast. I'm already having twice weekly NSTs and BPPs. So I'm just waiting until Thursday to bring it up. I know my blood pressure is elevated for me.
