3rd Trimester

Movement question around 27 weeks.

I think I am overreacting but I wanted to check with you guys. When you hit the 3rd trimester, did your movement slow down? I am still getting random movements but nothing like it was before. This started about 3 days ago.

Maybe she is just getting into her sleeping patterns or something. I do have an anterior placenta but it is still a change from before.

Re: Movement question around 27 weeks.

  • I did notice the movements changed, but I would not say lessened.  It's less fluttering and "swimming" and more long rolls and random kicks.  If you really do think its less, try to count 6-10 rolls/kicks/any movement within an hour.  Also, try drinking something cold and sweet (lemonade, orange juice...) and laying on your side while you count.  If it's less, call your Dr. just to be on the safe side.

  • I've noticed this LO's movements are really up and down.  One week she'll move a ton (like never stops!) and the next she seems completely still.  I was worried last week when I didn't feel much but this week she's back to her bouncy self.

  • My LO has active days and quiet days.  I've even had a few quiet days in a row.  I do feel movement on the quiet days, but not as much or as strong as I'd like.  I brought it up to my doctor today and he said as long as I'm feeling something, he thinks it's fine.  I'm also feeling a lot more rolls than kicks... I guess I expected her to be karate-kicking me by now, but that hasn't really happened.

Definitely call your doc if you're worried!

  • I know you are a super busy, soon to be mommy of 3 and I think you run a daycare at your house?  ...I'm sure you don't get much of a chance to sit down all day long....I'm guessing maybe since you are so active, you are rocking baby to sleep and don't have a second to notice movement with  being so busy?  How is the movement at night when you can sit down and put your feet up?

You are good. LOL. Yes, I don't sit down much during the day and I can feel the movement more at night. I guess that makes sense. Thanks everyone! I guess the nervousness doesn't stop no matter how many kids you already have. :)
