Hi, I'm new to the board and am temp SAH for the next 5+ months. I'm trying to take this opportunity to organize my house. Right now I"m working on cleaning my pantry, fridge, and freezer out and then coming up with an organization system. I realized that I waste a ton of food (which I hate) b/c I have no idea what's lurking in the back of the pantry/freezer, etc. Any tips/suggestions on how you organize snacks, jars, dried goods (beans, pasta, etc), frozen foods and then how you keep track of what you do/don't have in storage? No that I have a toddler I have a variety of dried beans, pasta, rice, grains, snacks, nut mixes, etc.
TIA!
Re: Help w/ pantry and general kitchen organization
I have 2 baskets in my freezer (I ordered them from The Container Store). I use one for ice packs, freezie treats, etc. (single and slide around otherwise), the other holds open bags of items such as chicken nuggets. It's easier to pull either basket out and find what I need. Other boxed items and ice cream still fit in next to the baskets.
For our pantry, I bought a clear over-the-floor shoe holder. It's awesome for individualized items like granola bars, popcorn packets, fruit snacks, etc. It really cuts down on all the half empty boxes in the pantry and frees up some space.
