Halloween costumes for tiny newborns

If you are having a baby around Halloween, will you put him or her in a costume? Have you already found one? I want to find something sweet to put baby in, even if we will just be home with her!

Re: Halloween costumes for tiny newborns

  • We're not putting him in an actual costume. I found these super cute pajamas from BRU. There is a giant pumpkin on the butt and the feet. I also got a little pumpkin rattle too. I'm due just 10 days before Halloween so I don't want to make him fussy with some big costume. I'd rather he be nice and comfortable. I'm going to look for a pumpkin beanie he can wear too.

  • Yes! Halloween is my favorite so we're planning on dressing our little guy up, even though we'll most likely just stay home, at least we'll be able to take pictures. :) BRU/TRU have some cute bunting costumes for newborns. Assuming he's on time, he'll only be 3 weeks old. My DH thinks we should wrap him up in a brown blanket and he could be Mr. Hanky the Christmas poo from South Park....

  • Definatly! We love Halloween, can't wait to pick her costume! We'll take her around with her cousins, won't get candy of course(we don't think its right for a baby to be trick or treating when they can't enjoy the treats) but it'll be fun to walk around with the kids.

  • BRU has some infant costumes you can pre-order. I saw a Tigger one I may get.  I also have a onsie, bib, bootie, hat, mittens combo that says Baby's First Halloween I'm gonna put him in too.

  • I am a halloween lover and my son is super excited at it coming up so I mentioned to my husband about getting a costume for the new LO and he bought him a hotdog bunting bag . It will be big on him but it will give him room to have a thick outfit on underneath

  • We just put DD in a warm fleece costume, so she would be comfy. She was 4 weeks old at the time.

  • Haha I just posted something about this last week and got a huge response! I WAS planning on getting a little fleece Batman outfit for him, but DH and I both have Ghostbusters costumes and I think I'm just going to make a Stay Puft marshmallow man costume for LO. I've got an overabundance of long sleeved 12 month onesies that I'm going to stuff and just add the little details on the sewing machine so he's not too uncomfortable :)

  • No costume for us. I may get some sort of onesie or pajamas. I think a costume would be a waste of cash honestly for one that little since I am due so close to halloween. They are so tiny and so curled up.

  • not sure if our LOs will be born or even home yet then but I did see an adorable knit hat at BRU recently that was orange and just looked like a pumpkin, face and green stalk too! It was sooo tempting to buy them but I didn't want to see them go unused if LOs weren't home yet. They did have other cute costumes too but I don't remember seeing a lot in newborn size.

  • LO will be a turtle for halloween, if he's born in time. He obviously won't be getting any candy, but at least he can get dressed up with his older brothers and sister.

  • Not sure if you can still get this one...2 years ago from BRU.  Best costume EVER!

  • We had a Tigger sleep suit with bib that I think was 0-3 and a NB pants and onsie set that said Boo for DS.  Halloween is DH's favorite holiday so there's no way he wasn't getting dressed up in something!
  • My kids love Scooby Do and the older two what to be Fred and Daphne for Halloween, making my younger daughter Velma...... so I figure maybe make little guy Shaggy for Halloween since Shaggy seems to wear a green shirt and brown pants it would cute for him to join in with his siblings and be comfy too. And since sewing is my hobby I can make all their customs right before and even after he comes.

My oldest was about 2 weeks old around Halloween 2006. I dressed him up as a pea in the pod it was a comfy little sleep sack he looked so cute.

  • I definitely want to do a Halloween costume. At the moment, I'm thinking of dressing him in black, stuffing some black tights and attaching them to either his outfit or the Baby Bjorn, and making him a spider. I, of course, will be dressed as a spider web, since he'll be attached to me anyway!

My husband also suggested our 5 y/o dress up as Robin Hood (whom he loves), DH would be Little John, I'd be Maid Marian and the baby can be a bag of money robbed from the rich. :) There are quite a few cute things you can do just using a gown or bunting that won't make baby uncomfortable. Try searching on the web for newborn Halloween costumes.
