I'm sure I'm hearing this a little sterner than she meant it, 'cause I'm pretty self conscious about being fluffy to begin with. My doc said "You're doing alright. For this third trimester, let's aim more to the 1lb side of the 1-2lb per week range."
So I'm being hyper vigilant about avoiding snacks, and eating less, and doing more fruits & veggies instead of ice cream.
Just curious how many people get the range of weight recommendations from their doctors:
"You're underweight, eat more!"
"You're a little light, let's try for a little more calories"
"You're right on track!"
"You're a little hefty, let's back off a bit on food"
"Damn, biotch! You's a heifer!"
Re: Who's been given weight advice by their OB?
The only thing the doctor has said to me hasn't been direct - I was asking about GD and he said "don't worry, it's not related to how much weight you've gained" or something like that. I was like "uhhh... I wasn't."
The nurse is the one who always comments, and she just tells me that I'm doing fine. I haven't asked how much I've gained yet though, I think I'm going to do that at the next appt.
Mine said "Wow, that's quite a jump" for 7.5 lbs in 5 weeks. As of my last appt I had gained 27 (at 25w). She went over my diet and activity levels and she thinks I might be having a huge baby. I have my 1 hr test on Wednesday so that will hopefully rule out GD.
I am stressing, I wish she would just tell me not to worry and that I look great.
