3rd Trimester

XP: Would you call your doc?

I also posted  this over on high risk, but no one has responded so... I'll be 29 weeks on Monday. I'm on bedrest allowed up but have to be sitting 80% of the time with my feet elevated due to PTL.(Between 1 and 2 cm dilated and about 3cm long)Last night my 30lb toddler fell hard onto my bump when she decided to stand between my legs in my recliner. (I didn't have a chance to stop her before she fell.)Today my belly is still sore. I'm on procardia for contractions, don't know that I've had "more" today, but they seem to be hurting more. The baby seemed to be a little sluggish last night, but she's had good movement today. My main concern is that I'm still so sore. Would you call your doc?

Re: XP: Would you call your doc?

  • My theory if in doubt always call the doctor. BUt, my daughter is always falling on my bump and I am a little sore a few days after but, everything is fine with my lo.    I am not on bed rest though.

  • Heck yea call your doctor!  I just fell on my belly on Thursday and went to the hospital.  They kept me overnight bc the placenta could detatch due to impact, the cord could have a tear in it, or the placenta could have a tear in it.  If it's still sore, then I would def go to the hospital.  They did an ultrasound and blood tests for me...everything is fine with my baby (i've got lovely road rash all over from my drive way though)  Hope everything is ok.  Keep us posted.

  • Being on BR for PTL as well, I would say call. Its something that happened that could trigger more contractions and you feel uncomfortable enough with the situation that you posted about it. If anything it will make you feel better to call. GL!

  • So I'm a triage nurse...

And when you have a hit to the tummy then we have you come in for 4 hours to make sure you don't have an abruption.  however, since you are now beyond that window and your baby is still moving then abruption is not an issue.  It would be expected that you would be more sore today as the muscles/ligaments are irritated/bruised.  I would just call your doc if you are contracting more than your allowed or recommended amount while on procardia.

Just what my doc said :) She said if the pain gets worse then to call her back and if it hasn't started to improve then to call first thing Monday.

    thanks everyone!
