RP: Riverside Subdivision in Raleigh

Does anyone know anything about this subdivision?  We looked at a townhouse there that we really liked.  We aren't big fans of capital blvd, so I'm wondering if there is other shopping in the area.  I'm also wondering about crime.  I tried using the news and observer crime mapper but it doesn't appear to be working because it says no records found for any address I put in...even ones I know are sketchy.  Thanks!

I would not personally buy there because it is so close to Berkshire Downs.  Which has an extremely high crime rate there.  The neighborhood (Riverside) is not the worst. 

I would suggest you call the police department and ask them.  They can usually tell you a lot about an area.

I was Googling to see where it was, and found this on CityData. My friend lives in Berkshire Downs, and while part of it looks sketchy, her neighborhood is REALLY nice. She knows a lot of her neighbors, people are always out walking their dogs, exercising etc.

Most of your big shopping in that area is at Triangle Town Center, so you don't have to deal with too much Capital traffic. Use Louisburg & Fox Road to cut into the back of the Target plaza and avoid Capital! You could also hop onto 540 and go into Knightdale, it's not too far and most of the major stores are there. There is a newer shopping area up Louisburg, with a Lowes Food and I think a lot of its still under construction. 

The Soccer fields right near there are REALLY busy and the lights are super bright, so not sure how close you are looking to those. The traffic around that area is annoying when there are a lot of games, but since they are widening Perry Creek that should help.

My best friend lives in Berkshire Downs next door to her mom and yes there has been crime in that neighborhood in the past, but they haven't had any major issues in quite some time.  A couple other friends live across the street in Riverside and love it there.  We looked at Riverside but I wanted to be closer to my family.

From what I understand...the actual subdivision is okay.  But across the street, as in the other side of perry creek road is known for some issues.  also, perry creek is a NIGHTMARE to live near.  on top of the neverending construction traffic there is a TON of soccer traffic just about every single weekend, year round!  As far as shopping...triangle towne center area is the closest...there is a food lion and wendy's at the other end of perry creek and then further up capital is wake forest.
