low amniotic fluid

At my last appointment, my doctor noticed that I had low amniotic fluid. She scheduled me for a biophysical profile test on Monday. I'm kind of nervous that something is wrong. My mother said that it could be that my sac is leaking but I don't notice any increase of discharge, actually I dont have much of a discharge at all. My doctor also told me to increase my water intake. I already average the standard 64oz and I just increased it to 90oz. has anyone ever taken this test? What should I expect as a result?

    I just had a biophysical profile done today because I am past my due date. It's just an ultrasound where the U/S tech measures the amniotic fluid around the baby. It's no different for you than when they did the 20-week ultrasound... the tech just makes a few measurements.

    Well, if your doctor ordered the test for Monday - maybe he/she is worried but not overly so because it is next week (I try to think that way so I don't psych myself out).  If she thought it was super low, I would think she would schedule it for sooner. 

    As far as having a biophysical profile - I haven't done that - but start them soon (for other issues).  

    I would definitely increase your water intake from the 64 oz.  That is what a non-pregnant person should drink, so maybe increasing it would solve the problem.  

    GL and I hope it all turns out well!  Try to relax and not stress too much over the weekend.

    Sometimes the fluid gets low because you are dehydrated. My doctor doesn't worry about amount, he says just make sure the urine is as close to clear as possible.

    I had an issue with low amniotic fluid w/my last pregnancy and was induced at 37 weeks. However, I'm sure they will not induce you at 27 weeks. Like your dr said, just try to increase your water intake and hopefully that will increase your amniotic fluid. GL.

    I went for my appointment today and the sonographer said my fluid levels look good. I guess the increse in fluids helped. I'm so happy that I have one less thing to worry about.
