Any other nerdlers out there that get a huge rush from trying out a new recipe? Last night I made paella for the first time and I was all excited while making it.
It's not even that hard but it was new to me so it was exciting. Bonus that it ended up being really good - now I am thinking of ways I can improve on it
If you had told me 5 years ago I would be saying this I would have taken a shot and laughed my assss off

I remember the first recipe I was making that called for saffron - I almost had a coronary in the grocery store. I was like "this has to be a mistake!"
Anyway, the recipe was a risotto so to compensate for the saffron, I used a saffron flavored rice. I used the same rice for the paella. The recipe called for chorizo sausage, shrimp and littleneck clams, but I just used the shrimp and chorizo. I am sure you could substitute chicken for the shrimp.
