Do I have to go?

Here's the deal.  My parents rented a cottage about 3 hours away next week (Sunday to Sunday).  My kids are invited and going with them (I have to work M-F next week).  We are going on vacation (9 hours away) the following Saturday for a week, again I have to work M-F before vacation.    Originally I said I would go to the cottage Friday night to Sunday morning but that was before I realized it was the weekend before we left for vacation and I am feeling overwhelmed about coming home Sunday and then working for the week before leaving the following Sat.

There have been a few weekend's away this summer and it takes me most of the week to finally not feel exhausted.  I will be kid free for next week but there is only so much I can do to get ready for vacation during that week (think laundry, groceries.)

Sorry it is so long!!!

Re: Do I have to go?

  • I would think you'd want to.  Summer only lasts so long and the kids don't stay little forever.

We got back from an 11 day vacation Friday night.  We are leaving today to go camping for the weekend.  It is our only chance to get out before school starts.

If you really don't want to go, I'd talk to your parents about it.  It should be more up to them since they will have your kids for 5 days before and I'd guess two more if you don't go.  I would think you can have a lot cleaned and prepared in a week without kids - but yes some things do have to wait until last minute, even if you are gone for the weekend.

It's much easier said than done when you work outside the home.

I agree with 100% of this and I work outside of the home.  You are going to be kid free it should be easy to get ready to go.
