3rd Trimester

Light headed

I am feeling really light headed... its been going on for an hour now.

I guess you could say it comes in waves, or rather gets worse in waves bc it hasn't really gone away.  I've eaten something, even though I'd finished a salad a bit before it started.  I've had dizzy spells the last few days and my dr didn't seem to concerned about it yesterday at my appt but I couldn't definitively say it wasn't bc I was waiting to long to eat.... but now that I've eaten but food isn't really helping what should I do?  Wait a bit longer or call my dr's office?  what could be causing it anyways :/

 TIA

Re: Light headed

  • I think you should call your doctor and let them know you're having this problem still even after you've eaten.  I've had it happen to me once or twice where i've felt dizzy but it's gone away so I never mentioned it to my doctor. Hopefully it's nothing serious and you'll be okay. (:  Good luck!!! Let me know.

  • i'm dealing with the same - for about 3-4 days now. the first time i thought it was b/c i wasn't eating often enough, but today i feel like i've been munching all day and i still feel off. i have a feeling it might have to do with low iron levels or blood sugar issues. I have an appt in 3 weeks with my dr. I'm going to see how i do over the weekend, and if it continues again next week i'll probably call and get fit in. I just feel embarassed b/c i've been in that office for THREE weeks in a row - first for a discharge issue, second for a small fender bender, and then third was my monthly appt. EGAD.

  • Always call if you're concerned.  I used to worry about calling too much but finally decided that I didn't care what they thought.  It sounds normal to be light headed but I'm not sure if it should last for an hour.  Maybe try laying down if you can and see if that helps.

  • I called, the nurse said to make sure I'm getting enough water and eating every 2 hours to keep up my blood sugar but to notify them if it gets any worse....  So I guess I'll be vigilant about the 2 hour thing and see if that makes it any better.  Thanks for the advice ladies :)
