3D elective ultrasound timing?

Sneaking over from 2nd tri for a question.

I never did an elective ultrasound with our first but I'm wondering for those of you who have, how far along were you and was it the perfect time or do you wish you would have waited longer or gone earlier?  I'm not doing this for gender determination, just want to get a good look and a few pictures for the baby book.  If it matters, I'm average weight.  Thanks!

I have one scheduled for 32 weeks. The place where I am going suggests doing one in between 31-33 weeks.

My OB won't do them past 32 weeks -- after that point, baby is just too big and it's hard to get a good face shot. They recommend 28-32 weeks.

The place I go to also recommends between 28 and 32 weeks. I like to go about 30-31 weeks because then the baby is a little rounder

I had my 3D/4D u/s at 27 weeks.  The place I went to recommended 27-32 weeks.  I'm glad we went when we did because baby still had room to move around, and we got pictures from a few different angles.  Unfortunately, I do not have experience with a later u/s for comparison...

I was 31 weeks when we had ours done. They suggest doing it between 28-32 weeks as well.

The place I'm going won't do it after 30 weeks...they say the baby is too big to get good angles at that point.  Hmmm.  Well, in any case I'm getting it done next week at 29 weeks.
