Drinks for school lunches....

What do you pack your kids to drink in their school lunch?  I'm hoping to find some alternatives to a Capri Sun, etc.  DC is in Kindergarten this year.  Thanks :-)

Re: Drinks for school lunches....

  • I will be using the 100% juice capri sun or having her buy milk at school.

  • Milk. I bought the Thermos funtainer and it keeps things cold up to 12 hours.

  • My daughter likes water so I fill up a Thermos drink bottle that keeps it cold.  My son likes the Roaring Waters pouches.
  • Last year, pre-k provided water or milk.  This year, I think I'll usually send water, occasionally send 100% juice, and sometimes let them buy milk.  I am hesitant on the milk because I know they can buy chocolate and I don't want them having a bunch of sugared up milk.

  • Ben has taken water, apple juice, and some pouches I found - they are called Honest Kids (I think?)  They are 100% organic juice, 40 calories.

We use the Thermos Funtainer to keep them cold....there's always ice left when he gets home.

  • I pack his water bottle with water, and if he asks, I'll send money for him to buy milk.  I packed the milk boxes, but he didn't like them.

Either water, milk or a carton of Tropicana. I usually freeze and use it as the cold pack.

I do this with a small bottle of water.
  • We only pack lunches occasionally but we have one of those stainless steel Thermos cups with a straw. We fill it with pretty much anything: water, juice, milk, whatever we happen to have at home. Besides carbonated drinks (and who would send that to school with a kid anyhow?) there's really nothing you can't put into a Thermos.

  • Thanks!!  I don't know why I was drawing such a blank on the whole drink thing!  I'm going to get a Thermos Funtainer today.
  • I pack shelf-safe milk boxes for older DD and Motts for Tots for my younger DD, because she doesn't like the taste of the boxed milk.
