Change of clothes for me,nursing bra, going home outfit for baby, blanket, toiletries, reading materials, camera, cell phone, socks, and not much else. I tend to pack light.
Pretty much what PPs said, but extra clothes. I packed a few pjs, pairs of underwear and socks. All old stuff that can get ruined but that way I can wear the hospital gown and underwear or my own.
A couple of outfits, a hat and socks for the baby. I brought too much for her, but it didn't even fill a tiny side pocket so whatever....
Nothing for my husband except snacks, but we live a block from the hospital. He says he doesn't want to spend the night but he can be home and back in 10 minutes if he decides to.
I pretty much put the minimum must-haves on the bump list in a diaper bag then filled the extra space with more clothes and things from the take-it or leave-it list.
The usual things you're told, toothbrushes, pillow, couple outfits, music, ect. The things missing on alot of lists that friends told me to bring that I thought were good ideas were:
Gum if you are a gum chewer ( I am)
Foundation Mascara and Lipgloss (if your going to have visitors/pictures)
Hair Ties/ Bobbypins (incase you go into labor and you're hair isn't tied back that day)
A spare rag if you have pets ( let the new baby cuddle with it while you are in the hospital then as soon as you get home put it in the kennel to allow your pet to get used to babies smell)

I over packed. The only things I used were my flips, my robe, a loose fitting nightgown with buttons at the top, and my toiletries. I wore a nursing tank and yoga pants home.
I didn't even bother with the clothes I brought for DD. She wore a hospital t-shirt, hat and diaper home since she was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her b/f putting her in the carseat.
Hubs brought clothes for several days, phone chargers, laptop and camera.
I think Iv underpacked, just cuz I dont wanna over pack. I am taking a few special things though. My Hubby was a given an awsome shirt that says NEW DAD 2011 and then someone eles game me a shirt that says NEW MOM 2011 ... My hubby was so excited that he declared hes wearing his home from the hospital and so am I . So I got some permanent clothing markers and a plain white onesie and wrote NEW DAUGHTER< GRANDAUGHTER, COUSIN, and NEICE 2011 on it with all these great colors . then all the imediate family members signed it those are our going home outfits

This. I'm packing light this time around. I over did it with my other two.
I'm still working on my bag but this is what I have so far...
For myself I packed a robe, loose fitting clothes, (stretchy capris/nursing tank/light sweater) flip flops (for the shower) slippers, undergarments, hair clip & head band, brush, powder foundation, lip gloss, mascara, toothbrush, travel size tooth paste, deodorant, moose, mouth wash, makeup remove wipes.
For our baby: two outfits, mittens, hair band, birth certificate paperwork (hospital already gave it to me) blanket, car seat
For hubby: two bottle waters and a bag of trail mix...
I need the camera and list of phone numbers...
