Some of you know that I've been having a very wonky cycle this month. I started having really bad menstrual cramps today. I haven't taken anything for it yet because I don't know if it's actually AF. I started thinking that it could be my endometriosis coming back. I had surgery to remove it more than a year ago. Anyone with endometriosis have any experience with it resurfacing?

Yes. It does come back. I'm just wondering how would I know? I guess everyone's body is different, but I'm interested to know if anyone's endo did come back, how did they figure it out. I'm having horrible cramps and just spotting every now and then with no red blood. I highly doubt this is at all related to pregnancy, but just in case, I decided not to take advil.
My gyno said that I need to get pregnant to prevent endo from coming back. Thanks doc! I've been working on getting pregnant even before the surgery.
Endo can cause IF, being infertile can cause endo to come back? What am I suppose to do here?

Oh lordy, have I ever!! There are years where I may have 2 laps 6 months apart, be on complete supression and still somehow my body manages to prodice more endo growth. It really varies by person, my biological sister can have surgery once every couple years and be fine just on pills. I have a different stage than her, so mine is a bit crazier. It is also dependent on how agressive your Dr was with your lap. And how old school your Dr is. Some still prescribe to the old school of thought that one lap solves everyone's problems.
What I have learned after being sick since I was 11 years old with this, and 7 laps later, you know your body better than anyone. So when you say it's time to do something, you know best!
I try to judge my pain by "Is it interferring with everyday life?" I am sure that you have a higher pain tolerance as well, like most ladies with endo.
Hope that any of the helps, it really is a case by case basis, and I hope that for your sake, it is just cramps and no more crappy endo!!!!

I think you're right about knowing your own body. I really want to talk to my RE about this. I feel like I'm getting pain throughout my cycles again, and the horrible pre-AF pain. I really don't want to do another lap, but if I have to then I have to. Thanks for your advice.

I had lap # 1 in April 2010. I had "relief" for 4-5 weeks. My symptoms came back and as the months went on I had just as much pain and it kept increasing. I had lap # 2 in April 2011.
I looked in alternate treatments. I am doing viseral therapy with a womens health physical therapist. It has done wonders. After 1 visit I was able to have sex that was not incredibly painful. I was shocked and amazed.
I am also doing a vegetarian/ dairy free diet. Feel free to PM me if you want more info on the viseral therapy.
I started a vegetarian diet back in May and I couldn't be happier. I still eat dairy though. I'm starting acupuncture next week. I would love more information on viseral therapy.

Mine comes back exactly the same way. The only way for it to be delayed even by a cycle is to have a complete dry up of the "roots" with Lupron depot treatment. Even then the relief is less than 3 months once I'm cycling again.
I've had 3 laps and was on constant Lupron suppression for 2 years.
I'm very sorry yours has come back, but I think it is more common than not to have it redevelop since it is hormonally reactive. I recently had someone say their doctor believed theirs wouldn't come back but they couldn't explain why... I told her I hoped for her sake that it was true but that from my experience and what I've researched it was unlikely.
Stand up for something you believe in.
