So we've known we needed to do this for a while now, but T's trip to the dentist last week just confirms it and pushes us even more. They couldn't find a definite reason for why those two top teeth hadn't finished coming in and have kind of been "stuck" in the position they're in, so they said stop the paci and come back to see them in 6 months. They said they bet once we stop use of that the teeth will spring back to action.
She's completely addicted to her paci...especially when she's tired or cranky or hurt so it's going to be a nightmare to take it from her. I don't think the cold turkey method will work for her. She has a "taggie" that is her other source of security but she usually wants both taggie and paci in those times of need.
Any tips, tricks, or advice?

I've never heard of this. What is it?
There are lots of different methods, I'll let everyone else tell you about them. But if all else fails, and she starts chewing or sucking on other things you can buy these:

well, I think that's what it's called.
Where you poke a hole in the paci, then gradually snip a bit more off each day. That way they don't want it anymore, since it doesn't suck the same way. My friend said her DD wanted to nothing to do w/ it after she snipped a tiny hole in it.
we went cold turkey and it went suprisingly well!
the first night he was looking around for it and giving me 'uh-oh' like something is missing. but i completley ignored him. gave him a book to keep him occupied while i got him ready for bed, read him a really animated version of goodnight moon and just put him in his crib. he cried some, we went in twice to sooth him, and he fell asleep. the 2nd night was about the same, fussed some, we soothed about two times and that was it. nighttime was easy.
naptime was a bit more difficult. there is a lot less routine and i think he was more aware in the middle of the day. he fought hard and my mom had to endure the brunt of it b/c we started this midweek. but she was a trooper and did not cave. it took a bit longer then nighttime but we were successful by the weekend.
