We probably will not do this because I wouldn't want the nickname Ellie (which is super popular here.) But it's a name the DH and I both love and apparently we will not have any boys, because this DD will be our last.
Just wondering what others think about this?
Re: Would you use Elliot for a girl?
I wouldn't.
But I also wouldn't use Ryan, Kyle, etc. and other people use them for girls.
Most people here will give it a big .
As boys-names-for-girls go, I kind of like it. I wouldn't use it, but I think it's cute on someone else's kid, and I DO think it's livable for an adult woman.

Normally, I do not care for girls using boy's names. In this case, though, I would consider using Eliot for a girl (one L). Only because of the author George Eliot. (I'm a fan). Two L's definitely say boy to me.
Anyway, I like it.

And if you call her Ellie she wont be mistaken for a boy! And everyone will say just call her Ellie but Elliott is a grown up version so she wont have to be Ellie in the business world if she doesn't want to! And it's not made up? Really??
I'm sorry I think this is THE dumbest logic. I don't know any little boys named Stanley or Ernest, but I sure as sh** wouldn't name a daughter one of those as a result.
My good friend has a 10 month old little boy named Elliott
Yes, I like it, it's on my girl name list, although I can't decide between Eliot and Elliot.
And I also love Ellie
Only if your last name is Reid and she will be a doctor at Sacred Heart hospital!
In all honesty, I like the name Elliot but I think of it more as a boy's name.

But this is no longer "different". It's a fad and trendy and will seem really dated down the road.
And let's not forget that Elliott on Scrubs talks about the reason she was named this was because her parents wanted a boy!
NO! Boys already have such few choices. Everyone keeps making them into girl names. The other day someone was trying to use Michael for a girl...Seriously? There are so many names with Ellie as the nickname, don't turn one of the most boyish names and make it Team Pink.
BTW, I know 3 Elliotts of various ages and they are all boys.

and this
I know 3 Elliots that are under one year old. I agree with pp, it's not a unisex name.
