Cold weather/ winter shoes

Since we live in places where it is cold an snowy, what did you do for shoes in the winter? Get some boots? Have LO in socks and just carry them? Starting to think ahead about what I will be needing this winter...

Re: Cold weather/ winter shoes

  • Last year I just got Evan a pair of snow boots from Target, but they were lined really nice. He only played outside in the snow a couple times, but his feet always stayed warm/dry. He honestly wore them 95% of the time once the winter hit... they were super easy to slip on and off!
  • Well Eve was born at the end of winter.. she didn't wear shoes the first winter. The 2nd winter (so like 9-13 months), she did still get carried most places, but I TRIED to have shoes on her most times.. but it didn't always happen. She was in a "pull my socks off" phase too, so if i put shoes on, it helped keep the socks on! She didn't have boots until last winter, and even then they were pretty unnecessary, since she refused to walk if there was snow or water on the ground. This winter she will have to walk!

  •  I never had shoes on dd until she was walking (unless it was dress shoes at church).  She wore socks in the winter and I always had a blanket over her also.

Once she walked, (so her second winter), I had her just wear sneakers bc she wasn't walking thru the snow.  It was either only indoors or on dry pavement.  Otherwise I carried her.  I did buy a pair of cheap used boots for the short times she was out playing in the snow.  Here's the thing too...if they are walking on the snowy ground and then get in your car, everything gets all muddy and salty, especially if still rear-facing.  Or you go to pick her up and then it is melting all over your pants.

Oh man, thanks for pointing that out, I never would have thought of that. Here I am, all "I am going to be hippo pregnant, I don't want to carry this kid." There is no way I want all that junk in my car either haha. Rock or hard place...
