So. ... the other night, DD scratched me - purposefully. I can't recall now if she was mad about something that I'd corrected her for or if she did it on purpose/unprovoked. In either case, it was late and it had been a long day and she'd been in the car for a bit b/c we had to pick up DH's car from the shop and then there was traffic, etc. so it makes sense she was tired and grumpy, but even if that's the case, I don't want her scratching me. I didn't yell at her, but I sharply told her, No scratching Mommy - that hurts! Then, DD was embarrassed and started crying (which happens whenever she gets in trouble) but then she started yelling at me - saying, Mommy scratched me! Mommy scratched Ella, Don't hurt me Mommy, etc. Should I even bother to engage with her in this kind of discussion and correct her? I get instinctively defensive and think Noooo - I didn't scratch you - you scratched me - I should just ignore it, right?
