Heating pad question

So, I have back issues and they come and go with pain.  This weekend they hurt so bad, I couldn't bend over or sit and bend to tie my shoes.  I used a heating pad on my back, but didn't even think about it bothering the baby. I avoid any and all heat to my stomach.  Is heat on my lower back okay??

Re: Heating pad question

  • My doc didn't have any issue with me using a heating pad. She told me that some pain associated with pregnancy would be better treated with cold packs. Since the ligaments/joints are changing & inflamed; cold would ease that pain better than heat. Hope you feel better soon!

  • Heat to your back is fine. The doctor told me just do it no longer that 15 mins! Hope it helped!
  • My OB said a heating pad on the back is fine, but just not on your stomach.  I have muscle spasms (since high school) so it was not surprise when they started last week!  Hope you feel better:)
