Hibernation season?

Hi ladies, a recent post made me realize that I don't know when flu/rsv season is - I've heard many of you refer to a time of year that you plan to stay tucked away. This first time mom is wondering:::when is it time to hibernate? Do you have any tips or insightful knowledge to share? TIA <3

Re: Hibernation season?

  • I've been wondering this too! I feel like there is this small window between our post-NICU hiding (8 weeks yuck) and the impending RSV season.

I'm adding to Urbanflowerpot's questions--Any tips for surviving being trapped at home for so long?

  • We are getting the first of the synergis (sp) shots in oct, and will carry through April...so based on that, I'd say Oct-Apr.

The reason why so many people get sick in winter is because everyone stays indoors, touching things, breathing recycled, germy air. So, I plan to go out, but to places where the air isn't recycled and you don't really touch stuff: on walks, the park, an open air mall, the zoo, etc. I figure we have blankets for a reason. By that age, LO will be interested to start seeing the world around her, so outdoors is a good place for her to be.

  • For us it is September (we will start shots) through April.  My suggestions are let your dh or family member/friend watch your lo so you can at least go to the store or do something now and again.  I use this time to catch up on projects around the house.  Summer is too nice to do indoor projects and when ds is napping I can get a few things done.  Or you can also buy an infant carrier and wear them.

Also if you have warmer weather (not too cold) you can sit outside on your porch.  Just seeing some sunshine does wonders.

  • Thanks ladies!
