I love dogs but....

I cannot stand it when my neighbors next door leave their black dog (no clue what kind never see it just always hear it) outside ALL night long and allow it to bark non stop even at 2AM, 5AM and so on.  They NEVER EVER tell it to quiet down or check on it...

Its so annoying....ahhh---sorry woke up at 5am with the dog barking like crazy and walked my entire house with a bat thinking someone was around there....

I feel the same way.  We have a neighbor whose puggle barks incesantly every time they leave it outside on the tie-out and another one with a Teacup Yorkie acros the street who sits on her porch with the dog all day, every day.  The dog barks at everyone and everything.  Both make me crazy.  I walk my dog and bring her back inside with me-- why can't you?  Clearly they can hear their own dogs barking...

My neighbor across the street was surprised when she found out I had 4 dogs because we are always know what they are doing and when its crazy.

  • I too love dogs...we have 2 of our own.  Leaving a loud animal out all night is not only unfair to neighbors, but it is unfair to the dog as well.  I would definitely make a phone call to your local police next time...if not for anything else, then to quiet the dog so you can get your much needed rest!!  My husband is a police officer and he responds to noise complaint calls all the time (loud music, animals, rowdy parties and more)...and you can do it anonymously, so as not to burn bridges with any neighbors Smile

  • Go talk to them about it.  Just be nice and be like---  I was wondering if maybe your dog could go in the garage at night?  I am pregnant and REALLY tired and trying to rest and IDK if ya'll can hear him where you are in the house, but he was barking at 2a for an hour and then 5a for an hour.  It scared me, thinking there was a prowler and I was walking around with a bat!  And then, if they don't do anything about it, call Animal control next time.  We have a border collie that barks his BRAINS OUT, if he's given half a chance.  But we never give him the chance;0)  You bark?  You go Time Out in garage.  LOL

  • I do not understand why people do this... we love our dog to pieces but if we let her out and she so much as makes a peep, we bring her right back in with a stern warning to hush. It annoys me the second I hear her barking at something, so I know it would bug someone else.

Our neighbor had a dog they left out all the time (in Texas... in the 110 degree heat... it had long hair.... I felt terrible for it) and it barked constantly.  My husband finally went over and left a note on their door at 1 AM one morning.  The dog actually died a week later which makes me think the poor thing was barking from pain... The neighbors haven't spoken to us since, even though the note wasn't mean.  Still pisses me off to think about it - some people are just not responsible, considerate pet owners.

Anyhoo, I'm sorry you're having to deal with that.  I'd leave a nice note or go over and speak with them.  Or do you have an HOA where you can make an anonymous complaint?

No HOA we are in a non HOA area (YAY thank goodness i hate HOA's) anyways I would go say something but no one in the house speaks english...the grandmother is so sweet though...brought me some "honey elixir" when I had Brochitis.  Whats funny is hes been quiet all day LOL.

  • We have some neighbors around the corner with 2 big dogs like that. It doesn't matter what time of day we walk by, those dogs will bark at us from the moment they see us coming around the corner until we're well past their fence.

  • If the dog is barking during the day, knock on the door.  If it's late at night, call the police.  You pay taxes for them to do that and you deserve to have a decent night's sleep, pregnant or not.

  • Do you live in city limits?  If so, this would violate a noise ordinance.  Call and file a complaint!
