Cloth Diapering

AW: Made my first real diaper!

At least, the first one I'm willing to show pics of :-) Inner is OBV (SO yummy!), has hidden layer of bamboo terry, soaker is OBV, bamboo terry and bamboo fleece. Knit is from JoAnn's. No snaps on this one yet, although I think DH wants to try to add them (I personally like the good fit I can get with a snappi, but DH loves the snaps!).

Pattern is Darling Diapers Unlimited newborn, but I think I need to size up to small for the next one, since I'd like the diaper to last a little while (babies sure do grow fast, don't they?). I highly recommend the DDU pattern for anyone else just starting out with diaper making!

  • That is awesome!!!!?

I'm positioning myself to be able to start sewing my own.?

Did you hear about the Babyville Boutique products? I'm on my phone or I'd linky...?

Joanns, Hancock fabrics and hobby lobby (maybe not all locations) will be carrying a new line of diaper making accessories and cloth! ?

I'm most interested in making fitters, but this stuff would be great for ai2 and covers. ?

Anyway, I'm excited that this could impact our selection of materials locally... Would you mind sharing where you got your fabric?

I did see this! I'm super excited to be able to get fabric locally too. I got my fabric from The Fabric Fairy, which happens to be having a 15% off everything sale right now! I don't think they have the fleece anymore, but they do have CV, OBV and bamboo terry, and some different colors of Sherpa too. Are you going to try to sell your diapers or just make them for yourself? I'm just happy to have a diaper that fits DD and doesn't look too crappy. I don't think I'll ever be good enough to sell them!

    Ooooh. Yes! I love sales!?

    Thanks!?

I'm not going to lie... I'd love to sell some, but I'm such a novice seamstress that my main goal is making something functional!?

Again, I think you did a great job!

  • I like the DDU newborn pattern too!  I like to add an 1/4" or so to the seam allowance and make it a nb/small diaper.
