I saw my dr a few days ago and he informed me that he would be away until possibly end of next week. This would be totally fine if my due date wasn't next Saturday. I am stressing out a bit since he is the only dr in the practice (one man show office). He delivered my son almost 4 yrs ago and I would love for him to be there to deliver my 2nd child. He's great and I am very comfortable with him. He mentioned a few other dr's which would be available should I go into labor while he is away but I am not thrilled about this. I haven't even met these dr's before. Ugh!
The "good" news is when I saw him I was 1cm and 50%. I know I can't control when baby arrives but I am hoping we can hold out until my actual due date or within a day or 2 of the EDD. Of course I want to meet my baby but I also want to have my dr deliver instead of stranger.
Sorry for the long post, just needed to vent. ![]()
Re: Dr going on vacation --- vent
I know I cut it real close with DS1. I was with a practice of 5 doctors. You got whoever was on call when you went into labor. There was 1 I didn't like, 1 that was my absolute favorite. I went into labor when the 1 I didn't like was on call. It was down to the wire, by the last hour to delivery my favorite came on shift and was the one to come to the hospital. Phew! Made it by the skin of our teeth. Hopefully the same happens for you.

exactly.
This is the reason I spent more time chosing the hospital than the Dr. Once I was ready to choose a doctor I became familiar with who is in their on-call group.
Don't stress about it. The doctor doesn't do much more than catch! Trust your instincts, kow your plan, and I hope you love your hospital.
