  • Just wrote this on WM board.

My CFO is allowing us to leave at 3 pm tomorrow to attend our 1st group Happy Hour.  He's not doing us any favors. We already get to leave at 3 pm the first Friday of each month.  It's the company's thank you for working 60 hrs the first week of the month. I already have a prior engagement & will not attend.  Several co-workers do also but are canceling their plans feeling an obligation b/c it's work related.  Now, I feel slightly guilty. And no, the CFO is not buying.

I think this exact same thing every time I go shopping. I'm carting around a 4 month old and I still manage to return my cart to where it belongs.

  • It drives me crazy how some people act like responsible pet breeders are the devil. Puppy mills, backyard breeders and idiot pet owners are to blame for pet overpopulation, not responsible breeders. There is a place in the world for them and in fact, they are important.

Haha, C was just over a month old and had fallen asleep in the car.  We stopped at a grocery store on the way to the beach house and DH ran in to pick up a few things.  She woke up two minutes later and screamed her head off because the car was not moving.  At the same time, the people from the car next to me unloaded their groceries and when finished she put her cart directly behind our car.  Not in front of her car, not in the carriage corral that was 2 EMPTY SPACES away, but directly behind our car.  I think it was the fact that DD was screaming because I am usually not confrontational, but I leaned over and opened the driver's side door and yelled out, "Did you really just put your cart behind our car?"  She got a really embarrassed look on her face and said, "Oh sorry, I didn't realize someone was in there."

  • My UO is when I am doing home visits for the kids coming in to my school and they tell me that they can't afford to send their child with diapers, snack, the one folder I ask them to provide, and will need help buying winter coats, Christmas presents, etc.  Yet, they tell me they are getting the kids a puppy, have the latest video games and a flat screen tv.  I'm sorry, but I am done paying for their children's supplies out of pocket if they can afford to get these things.

  • I hate when people continue to shop when their LO is crying and crying and crying.  As a mother I can tell the child needs something besides being ignored.  Yet keep pushing that shopping cart around the store while other shoppers comment about you.

Also I hate FAKE moms.  Those moms that sweet talk to their children like they are living in a fairy tale.

  • I hate the people in my development that go to the mailboxes in their car, and then proceed to sit in their car AT THE MAILBOX and read all their mail, when they can clearly see me behind them.

I also hate construction. I've seen construction all my life, but I've never actually seen a construction worker doing anything. I have no clue how road projects even get finished.

Lol this was mine but I didn't want to offend anyone. I can't stand going tO sleep with earrings in because they dig in the back of my head, so I feel so bad for the poor babies not having a choice in it. Just my opinion

I so could have written this! I am DONE spending my hard earned money on supplies for kids when in two weeks they're "lost". And I am tired of administration expecting our kids to have everything they need for the whole year. You give us $100 to spend and we're lucky if we see our supply order the next year. You don't pay me enough to buy enough school supplies for the whole year for 20 - 30 kids! I would be broke if I kept this up! Can you tell I just looooove my job and am so excited to start a new school year!?

This is mine too. I don't see the point. A baby does not need pierced ears, and getting your ears pierced hurts even if it is only for a short time! Anyone who says their baby did great with it must have forgotten what it feels like. Plus, you have enough to take care of with a baby, why add making sure piercings are clean and not infected to it? Seems silly to me.

  • My UO this week is how the bump homepage counts down to my baby's birthday. I don't want to be reminded that my baby is growing up way too fast.
  • When ever I read a post about somebodies LO (think baby, not older child) watching ::insert kid TV show here:: I think that mom is lazy and borderline neglectful. I highly doubt it's the "only" way you can get anything done.

Yeah... I hope this wasn't directed at my post.  The only reason I posted on tb is because I didn't feel comfortable with letting him watch & I was getting mixed opinions from friends.  You ladies really helped me throughout my pregnancy and those hard first months, and I trust many of your insights.  With that said, I don't like when people use the tv as a babysitter, (I wasn't even allowed to watch growing up) but I much rather a happy baby while I'm taking a quick shower than a screaming one.

You don't have to respond to this.  I just wanted to make myself clear... I would hate to feel discouraged from posting  or asking questions again.

btw your girls are too cute :)

  • I think people who stare at me when I NIP are rude and annoying.  You can't see anything- I'm totally covered, so unless you have x-ray vision get on with what ever you were doing before I needed to feed my baby.  Breastfeeding has been happening since people first began.  (If you do have x-ray vision, feel free to stare.  I would use this power too if I had it!)

  • I guess mine is that I don't think a little bit of TV at any age is really that big of a deal. I haven't sat DD in front of it at this point, but I'm lucky. My husband often works from home and my parents/brother live ten minutes away. I have a lot of help, and many willing hands if I need someone to come hang out with her for a few minutes so I can get some work done (work from home), take a shower, go to the bathroom, etc.

I had imagined, pre-baby, that I would do all these things - especially my work - while she napped. And then she arrived - perfect, gorgeous and morally opposed to napping longer than ten minutes a few times a day.

If I didn't have that help, it would be a matter of doing whatever I had to. I don't believe for one second that 20 minutes of the Wiggles or whatever is going to cause lasting damage, and I would never side-eye another mother for doing what was necessary to get through the day. I'm not in her shoes, I don't know her situation, and frankly, it's none of my damn business (aside from abuse or actual neglect). I have my own kid to worry about.

It's not easy being a mom, and I say do what you have to do. I don't like heaping judgement and guilt on other mothers. Not a single one of us is perfect, or does everything right, and we all do things that someone else could judge.

    Yes

Also, I don't quite understand the pierced ear thing for babies. I think it's up to my kiddo if she would like them or not. I had my pierced in the 5th grade so my thought is to wait until she makes a request to have them done and we'll go from there.
