Homemade Organic Baby Wipes

I'm thinking about making these, I'm all for anything that's natural and healthy for my baby.  Has anyone ever tried this, or something similar, and what did you think of their funtionality?

TIA  Big Smile

Re: Homemade Organic Baby Wipes

  • I have not made those but just wanted to say that nurses at our hospital told us to just wet a cloth to wipe the baby...so just water.  and that is what we did early on and it worked fine.

  • We use cloth wipes and wash them with the cloth diapers.  Super easy, eco-friendly, wallet-friendly, and I don't have to buy stock in either baby wipes or paper towels :)

  • Like pp, we just used baby washcloths and water.  I stocked up on cloths at the dollar store and have about 30 or so. I kept the water in a squirt bottle.

I do find the link you posted very clever, though!

I am doing the same! Except, I did buy a couple packs of disposable wipes... to throw in the diaper bag for who knows what can happen days..

  • We are using cloth wipes mostly the really thin SpaSilk wash clothes, some I made from scraps of fabric in the remnants bins at the craft stores, and some regular washclothes from BRU.  For the solution we are just using water, maybe some calendula cream when the tush is a little red and rashy.  But with cloth diapers it makes sense to use cloth wipes.  No need to sort out trash from cloth that way

  • Hrm... I think if I were going to all that effort (ok, it's not a ton, but still)  I would just use cloth wipes.  If you do this, I really don't think you need to heat the coconut oil in a saucepan.  It barely needs any heat to liquefy so you can probably just mix it with warm water or set it near the stove while you cook something else.  I use it for my hair and skin and half the jar will melt just being in the room if I take a warm shower!
  • Those seem very nice and thrifty! I will try it. I think its great for cleaning wipes and facewipes too. How fun!
