February 2012 Moms

2nd + time mommies

When did you have to leave the rings behind? I think most people say somewhere around 20 weeks, just curious because I'm getting snug (mostly from the heat/humidity - they do every summer) so was thinking about it. I've already told DH that I'm getting them checked/cleaned and redipped when I can't wear them Smile

  • I never had to! I had my DS at the end of August so I was really pregnant all summer, but I never had any swelling! It was such a blessing!

  • I didn't either, and DD was born mid September.  If DH and I would go for a walk at night, I would take them off before that, also because of the heat and humidity.  Otherwise I wore them the whole time.

  • I think it was around 28 weeks with Lily...basically when it started getting hot.  I am hoping to have far less swelling this time around since it will be winter and maybe will even be able to wear my rings till the end!

  • DS was born in July and I never had to. I did have them sized up a 1/4-1/2 size early in my pregnancy b/c they had always been tight.  Now they are super loose and I'll have to have them sized back down eventually.
    * DS1...allergic to dairy, peanuts, eggs and turkey *

  • My rings were a perfect fit before I got pregnant with my daughter, with my massive weight gain I had to stop wearing them about 18 weeks I think. My DD was born in Feb.

  • About 25 weeks, DS was born in October. Do not rush to put them back on, I tried 2 weeks post partum and I literally was inches away from going to the hospital. I got it on, but then blood started rushing to the tip of my finger and I could not get them off. DH rushed to get a bucket of ice and I was crying because it hurt so bad. Between relaxation, ice, and a tub of butter---and two hours later, I finally got it off. I couldn't put mine back on until March. *Sigh* I will never do that again! Sheesh.....

  • When I was pregnant with DS it was definitely mid to late 2nd trimester that I finally just took them off.  DS was born in August so it was probably around May that I stopped because of the same reason you state...humidity and swelling!!

I wasn't able to get them back on comfortable for about 2 months after he was born.

  • With DC#1 I made it to 30 weeks before they just wouldn't fit any longer (and this was in the dead of winter, Christmas Day actually).  With DC#2 I got to 32 weeks (in July).
