bought a used Medela pump- which parts do I need to buy?

Hi there,

I bought a Medela pump from one of my friends who only used it a handful of times (BF did not work out for her).  I'm sterilizing all of the parts as I type this, but I'm wondering which parts I should buy.  My friend said she thinks I should buy the tubing.  Do you think this is necessary?  Are there other parts I should get, too?  BTW...it's the Medela Pump in Style Advanced model, if that helps.  Thanks! : )

  • I would buy new tubing and new membranes. Sterilize everything else and you should be good.

  • I'm borrowing the same type of pump from a friend of mine. I basically got all new parts (breast shields, valves/membranes, and tubing). I would definitely say get new tubing though because it is possible for milk to back up into it and I feel like it's hard to sterilize. I ended up ordering my tubing from Amazon because I couldn't find it in the stores anywhere!
