Almost 35 weeks and WORST headaches ever...

I never ever EVER get headaches... however the last three days I've been having terrible ones... a few times a day... I almost wonder if they arent migranes...

Its in my upper neck... behind my eyes... even makes my jaw hurt... and I have moments of dizziness from them...Im sure I'll survive. LOL.

I just wanted to check with you ladies and make sure it couldnt be an indicator of a bigger problem as I'd hate to think they're 'just headaches' and find out later it could be a pregnancy related problem and I ignored it.  Thanks girls!

Re: Almost 35 weeks and WORST headaches ever...

  • Get this checked out by your doctor now.  When I was having blood pressure problems they kept asking me if I had headaches.  I didn't, but others do.

  • Yes it's pregnancy related.  Make sure your doc knows ASAP.

  • Call your doctor.  Headaches can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia.

  • I definitely agree, call your Dr ASAP!  I started having headaches at about 34 weeks that would not go away with Tylenol.  My BP was climbing fast, and by the time I hit 35 weeks, I started getting very light headed with my contractions and actually blacked out during my last NST.  I ended up being induced that same day, I had pre-e and partial HELLP syndrome.  I am not meaning to scare you, but it is crucial you get checked out!

  • Ditto! Call your dr, can be a sign of High BP so possibly Pre-E.

I had really bad headaches in my 2nd tri but they no elevated BP and was able to take extra strength tylenol, per my dr.

  • I had this happen to me. I just went into the doctors office and asked to have my blood pressure checked, it was high so my doctor fit me in and put me on blood pressure medication.

  • Yep, the sudden and severe headaches could be a sign of Pre-E.  Call your doc.

    GL! Hope it's nothing.

  • Thanks ladies!

I actually havent tried taking Tylenol for them... Im very anti any sort of drug if I can help it... so I'm not sure if Tylenol would help at all... They do go away on their own... but I've been having at least 3 a day that last 1-2 hours...I'm going to go to the pharmacy and check my BP on their machine rather than waiting hours at the OB with my 3 boys(we have a serious Dr. shortage here so wait times are RIDICULOUS)  and then if the machine says its high I'll break down and call the OB. DH isnt too happy that Im not just going straight to the Dr... but a friend of mine who is a nicu nurse said the pharmacy machines are quite accurate so I figure it doesnt hurt to give it a go since it is 1000 times easier!

  • Yes yes and more yes. Call your doctor and get in for monitoring ASAP. That's a red flag for high blood pressure which of course creates problems when pregnant you could have preeclampsia or HELLP which I had. Go get checked out ASAP. I hope all is well.
  • I really hope everything is okay.

  • Even if your BP is normal your OB still needs to know. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and already had elevated liver enzymes, so I was delivered that same day. My BP was only borderline high in the office (140s/80s.) It shot up later, once I was already admitted. My other symptoms were just tired, nauseous, and seeing sparkles in my peripheral vision. I was 35w2d. Good luck!
  • I'll echo the other ladies.  Call the doc now, if you haven't already.  That's not normal and is sometimes indicative of PIH or Pre-e.  I had the same thing happen to me and I landed on 4w of hospital bed rest.

GL and I hope everything is ok!

  • Go to the ER or your doctor or get to a place where you can check your BP. I had the same thing a week before having my girls at 34w.

  • Well I went to the pharmacy and checked it... and it looked great... 111/68... I'm just going to rest... if it gets worse I'll go in, otherwise I see my OB for my regular appointment Thursday am and I'll mention it then. Thank you ladies for all of your replies! I'm really hoping it is not a problem, but the blood pressure check did put my mind at ease.

Please at least phone your OB's office.  Thursday is too far away with this type of problem.  My BP would look ok sometimes, but be really high other times.
