Ouch! Leg cramps!

On Friday night i had a horrible leg cramp that seized up my whole leg... normally i would flex my foot up and the cramp would disappear, but it was so bad that I couldnt even move my foot...and it happened 3 times in a row. Its never been that bad. Now Monday and my calf still sore... if its not one thing its another I guess! lol

Re: Ouch! Leg cramps!

  • I had one of those last weekend. I woke up from a dead sleep almost screaming in pain. I really scared my FI. Usually I could flex my foot for a few seconds and stretch it out. But that didnt work. My FI had to rub my calf for like 10 minutes to get this cramp gone. It was horrible!

  • I have the same thing happen to me! :(
  • I got those ALL THE TIME with DS--during the night usually. This time around, I've had them literally one night--and supposedly watermelon helps with them. I believe it, since I've been eating watermelon a TON--I go through 1 watermelon every 2-3 days. Might be worth trying :)

  • I've been getting those and my doc said getting more fluid (which is why the watermelon is so great), increased potassium (bananas) or you could go a magnesium supplement that has potassium, magnesiuma nd zinc in it.

Other remedies I've heard are a spoonful of mustard or drinking pickle juice.

All I know is they suck and your leg will be sore for days. Good luck!

  • I had one of those last night! Usually if I flex my leg, turning my toes upward rather than pointing them, then it goes away, but I know it'll be bad when even that doesn't work. I can usually manage to jump out of bed and prevent it, but last night I wasn't fast enough, it was awful.

It seems counter-intuitive, because you'd think using your leg when it's like that would hurt a lot, but have you tried walking it off? I ignored my husband suggesting that for months, but was surprised to find it actually works!
