Omalley- I read The Room and I did like it. Thanks for reinforcing the suggestion!
I have one for you and Kafunder since I liked/loved the same books you and Kafunder did.
I read The Kitchen House on vacation (along with The Room, Silver Sparrow (eh), and Faith (almost done)) and I LOVED IT. I liked it better than The Help and I really loved The Help. I could NOT put it down and read it in 36 hours almost! I was sneaking reads in between Pictionary rounds up at camp and my family thought I was nuts, until my Mom started reading it! Anyway, I thought it was great, great, great and wanted to share.
Re: ****Omalley and Kafunder*******
I am so glad you read it and liked it!!!
And thank you for The Kitchen House suggestion. I have to bring suggestions for our next book at my book club and I am going to suggest that one. I will let you know.
Please please please tell me how you managed to read while on vacation?
Cuz my "vacation" consisted of:
"Harry, please stop climbing on the furniture and attempt to stand on it"
"Alex, we don't crawl into the ocean"
"Harry, I know you have 3 molars coming in, and mommy feels bad for you"
"Alex, we don't get up at 4am"
"HarryAlex (as my 3 yr nephew calls them), please eat lunch"
"HarryAlex, go the F to sleep"
"HarryAlex, stop trying to cut each other with the blinds"
And so forth.

HAHAHAHAH.
We've traveled with the girls a few times, and they travel really well. They went down for their naps at the normal times (10 am for 2 hours and 3 pm for 1.5 hours) so I read during their naps, sunning on the dock! Then they go to bed at 7:30, so I would read before bed.
Also we were with my whole family and they LOVE spending time with the girls. When the girls went down for their afternoon nap DH would stay behind with them so I could go on the boat for a couple hours, or my Mom would stay behind, etc. My BIL even stayed behind one day! (My sister's husband). We could bring the baby monitor down to the dock and swim, lounge, etc. while the girls slept upstairs. I think that's the big difference where we go vs. going to a beach house. We can still be enjoying the outdoors and the water while the girls are napping.
