Ameda Purely Yours quit working??

I bought an Ameda Purely Yours pump the day we were discharged from the hospital (so I've had it about 2 months).  I used it a lot at for the first two weeks because DD had latching issues and jaundice and we ended up supplementing for a couple of days.  Since that all cleared up, I stopped pumping for a few weeks, but I am now trying to build up a freezer stash for the future.  For the past week, I've been pumping in the morning after her first feeding.

This morning in the middle of pumping it just stopped working.  It made three of the "pulling" sounds in a row and then nothing.  Every time I turn it on, it does the same thing- three pulling sounds then it stops.  I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in as it says in the instructions, it still doesn't work.  I called the warranty number this afternoon once DD finally went down for a nap, but they were already closed for the day.  Unfortunately, I think that the receipt was thrown away by mistake when my mother was helping to clean up during the first few weeks, so I don't know if they will even help me since I don't have the proof of purchase.

Does anyone else have the Purely Yours and have the same issue?  Were you able to fix it or did you just have to get a new pump?

  • I'm not sure how good customer service is with Ameda, but when my Lansinoh broke I just called and they sent me a new pump.  i had been using the pump for about 10 months and I had just thrown out the receipt the week before (irony).  they will probably just ask you for the model and serial number.

  • I haven't had the same issue, but I did think that my pump was losing suction after a while. I called Ameda, and they sent me a new pump with a box to return the old one. I did not need the receipt. This was years ago when I was pumping with DD1.
