too hot outside! what do you do to keep busy?

how many of your ladies have been living in an oven this summer?  I'm in charleston,sc so fall weather really doesn't start until the beginning of october...2 more months of this? ugh!  i'm running out of things to do by 5 in the afternoon..what have you been doing to keep busy?

Re: too hot outside! what do you do to keep busy?

  • We're still outside every day from 5:30 to 6:30 watering our enormous garden, when it's, like, 95 or hotter out... I am getting SO resentful of the stupid plants! I occasionally beg off and stay in to do housework. Nothing fun, though... I did purchase an inflatable kiddie pool that I lounge around in on weekends, and that is excellent :)

  • We live on a lake so when its really hot out, I have my friends come visit and we go swimming for the day.. When I cant find someone to swim with me, im planning the nursery, playing with my fur-babies, playing online or watching TV.
Im getting ready to start a album/scrapbook.
  • I sew/make stuff for the baby, bake, attempt to keep up with DH's laundry, and scrapbook. Last week, I canned a ton of peaches I got from the farmer's market. It does get pretty boring though, I would love to go outside, but it's just too hot! When the cabin fever gets really bad, I call my little brother and sister (13,16) and take them swimming at the springs, where the water stays around 60 degrees. It feels sooo good to swim!!

Edit: Posted before I was done.

  • It's like an oven here to and so far I have been working on crocheting afghans, sewing the baby bedding, eating ;p, and of course trying to attempt to keep up with the mess that is DH. The laundry is almost becoming too much for me in the summer heat because we keep it in our bedroom in a hamper, its not air conditioned in there, and he's a meat cutter. If only we had a washer and dryer on site that actually worked. :S My m/s hasn't fully left, though I have been doing a lot better, the nausea is still there in a major way.

However, I do also have 5 younger siblings all in high school and junior high that also call and ask me to drive them places (trying to explain to a 14 year old girl that you are actually not a free taxi, especially when you live a half hour away is quite time consuming.) That is most of what I have been up to. I am also trying to get up the courage to organize our current storage room into a nursery (we just kind of ended up throwing things in there to get them out of the way when our roommate left and haven't been brave enough to get much done in the heat because it is also not air conditioned).
