Did he or she grow out of it. My DD isn't allergic to milk but has a lactose problem that we were told she may outgrow.Well she is a month shy of 2 and so far it seems that any bit of cheese she gets-and I am talking about mini amounts that may have not been found by me get her upset.
I guess I am looking to hear from other moms that had this problem , that things changed. She already has a restricted diet for other reasons.
Also except for soy milk-which milk do you think is the best alternative?
TIA
Re: If your child had a lactose problem
DD is slowly outgrowing it. When I was BFing if I drank any milk or had anything with lots of cheese, she would get sick. When I went back to work, we had to start supplementing with formula and she did okay with the lactose sensitivity kind, but would spit up the regular milk-based formulas. I tried yogurt around 9 months and it made her terribly sick. Now, at 13 months she can eat yogurt and cheese. Whole cow's milk still upsets her, so we do soy milk. I have tried giving her Lactaid milk, but she won't drink it.
I plan to try cow's milk again in a few months to see how she does. GL.
I was advised that when re-introducing it do so slowly and start with yogurt. Certain items are harsher than others.
As for milk alternatives we use coconut milk. Cultured coconut milk yogurt and coconut milk icecream.
Us too as well as hemp milk.
DD just seems to have outgrown her lactose intolerance this summer, which surprised me since I am lactose intolerant myself. However, she was always able to have cheese and yogurts, just not soft cheeses like brie. Hard cheeses were no problem for her.
Goat's milk seemed to work best for us, but she stopped liking the taste around 2 years of age. You could try goat's milk yogurts, too.
