How to prep Lil Joeys nb AIOs?

Can anyone shed some light on what I need to do as far as prepping my Lil Joeys? The only instructions with them are regular washing instructions, and I've searched the website and can't find anything there about what to do with them before the first use either. Do I need to do anything other than a regular wash before using these?

I washed and dried once, but have heard they get more absorbent the more you wash them. They always repelled and so didn't work for us.
