My doctor said that if I wanted it done then its $400. I just about choked. As a sonographer, I do these tests all time on moms, including the low risk medicaid patients. Why do I have pay $400 and they don't? How much are you guys charged for this?
My MIL warned me that it would be expensive so I called my insurance company to verify before making an appointment. Mine was 100% covered which confirmed my decision to do it. It all depends on what your insurance covers.
We didn't do the NT scan, but my doctor's office does an 8-week u/s that is NOT billed to insurance and he charges $400 for it and the first appointment. It's just a quick measuring u/s.
It was covered under my insurance with my first. This time around we are paying for everything out of pocket and I was also quoted about $400. It is one (of a few) reasons we are skipping it this time around.
We didn't know it wasnt completely covered until we were checking in and they said we had a $1000 deductible and that the u/s could cost up to $400. We paid $278 up front and will likely receive another bill. I forgot to check with our insurance because it is considered an elective procedure. It was worth it though for that reassurance.

We were told that insurance would cover either the NT or the 20 week anatomy scan, so we went with the anatomy scan. I have had 3 others bc of spotting, etc, and our portion was $34, but they were super basic- just looking for HB and a quick measurement.
I called the doctor, and ours is going to be 1200 total, and insurance wasn't sure how much they would cover, but they would cover at least half. We might be skipping because of the cost. The bills are getting crazy!
