NBR: Replacing driveway cost?

Does anyone know the average cost of replacing a driveway?  Obviously it depends on the size of it but just a ballpark figure? We have a small 1 car driveway that we're thinking about replacing this year.  Since we're looking to sell in the next year, we feel like this is a good update to make the house look nicer from the outside.  I have no idea how much to even guess- like hundreds or thousands?

  • Concrete? I'd estimate thousand. Concrete is expensive!

  • Thousands I would say. I have seen estimates of $6-$12 per sq ft. Have you had it sealed? Would an overlay work? I am thinking ours would be about 5k, and we have a bigger driveway...so, IDK! haha

    Call and get an estimate!

Yes, very....my dad got an estimate for  stamped concrete about 10 years ago...his driveway is pretty big and it would have been 22k!

  • We had ours done a few yrs ago-blacktop and it was a few thousand I think-not sure of the exact price but more than we expected it to be!
  • hmm.  Seems like a lot!!!  Why are houses so darn expensive!?!
  • Well, we have a GIGANTIC driveway. Seriously, I think you could park about 20 cars in it easily. We had it resealed and some potholes in it filled this year, and that alone was about $900. The estimate we got for repaving it was almost 10k.

  • Funny that I asked this today- we got together with some friends and her husband does concrete.  We knew he did construction type work but didn't know this.  He said that he'd do it on the side for us- we buy materials, DH helps him, and we pay his friend to help as well.  He said that he won't take any $$ from us so we're going to trade babysitting for a new driveway!!!  WooHoo!  The only downside is that we have to wait until mid-September.
