Babies: 6 - 9 Months

hope this isn't a sign of things to come (food allergies)

I started DD on solids on her six month birthday and she did great with sweet potatoes. We took a hiatus to transition to formula, then started back up with bananas two days ago. She LOVED them and did great the first time... then got a huge rash all over her face when she ate them last night. Luckily it went away on its own after about an hour after stopping the feeding, but ugh, this is only the second solid I've given her and already a reaction. Sad We have a ton of allergies in my family (not food ones though), so I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see something in DD already.
STM due Feb. 2017!

  • Aww...I hope this isn't a sign either. I get so nervous when we try something new. I hope what ever you try next has no reaction.
  • She could just grow out of it, too. Good luck, mama.

  • Try bananas again. If the reaction was just on her face and went away almost right away, then it's usually just a sign of irritation because the face isn't used to having foreign "stuff" on it. My pedi said that a true allergic reaction is a rash on the body, not just on one spot.

My DS is extremely allergenic, and I'm super careful with foods, but usually try a food at least 3-4 times before determining an allergy. Good luck

This. My LO sometimes gets a red face after eating too, mostly because the smears it all over herself and then we have to scrub it all off. It just irritates her face, which is has always seemed to have pretty sensitive skin.
