Tums and Heartburn! (poll)

Re: Tums and Heartburn! (poll)

  • I started taking Zantac once I hit 5-6 tums a day.  I've barely had it since.  I only take it when I need it, but it always works.

I don't take tums.  My OB told me not to because while they work short term they actually encourage heartburn to come back.  I use zantac 75mg and mylanta.  Works like a charm....way better than tums.

  • I don't take Tums.  I take Pepcid Complete which is like regular Pepcid and Tums combined.  I like it because I can take it on a case by case basis (instead of daily like Zantax) and it works amazingly well.

  • Tums have never worked for my heartburn, so I've been doing zantac.  That's not doing much either, so I'm gonna be switching to Prilosec soon per my dr.'s suggestion.

I was told by my OB not to take tums. I have been taking Pepcid which seems to work.
  • Zantac is the only category B heartburn drug (aside from tums).  All others are C, and I won't be taking those.
